How to defend your hair this winter!
Back to NewsIt’s that time of year again – frosty mornings, dark nights and knitwear aplenty! Winter is upon us, and with fun festivities just around the corner we want you to look and feel your best!
Haircare in winter is a must! The cold and wind can take its toll on your hair, but do not fear, En Route are here with our top tips for keeping your hair smooth and sleek this season.
Conditioning is key
The cold weather and too much dry heat from household appliances such as central heating and hair dryers will leave your hair sapped of moisture. To keep your hair looking smooth and sleek through the winter months you should be using intensive conditioning treatments weekly, these treatments will help to nourish and hydrate limp and dry locks.
When it comes to conditioning you should be looking out for treatments that aim to target key issues that are faced during the winter months rather than masking issues with cosmetic superficial results. Why not try our in-salon Excellium Schwarzkopf Taming Mask for just £5.00, and restore youthfulness of course hair whilst preserving colour. Our Schwarzkopf repair rescue in salon treatment is just £5 or add a power shot for £7, this deeply nourishes extremely damaged hair, improves inner strength and has long lasting conditioning effects after one wash.
Don’t over do with shampoo!
It is important to understand what hair care triggers might be more harm than good to your hair during the winter months. We would therefore recommend you keep washing your hair to a minimum. On average, you should aim to wash your hair 2-3 times per week as opposed to every day, this will prevent your hair from drying out. We recommend using the moisture kick collection by Schwarzkopf, which restores your hair structure while providing deep hydration. The range starts from £10.55.
Argan Oil
In the beauty world, argan oil is commonly used to help keep skin silky soft. However, it has just as many benefits for your hair and it is especially useful for those cold winter months. Argan oil will replace the moisture lost in your hair from the cold, dry weather.
It is also common that winter weather can cause your scalp to peel and become flaky, argan oil can help fight a flaky scalp by replenishing nutrients and moisture. It is important, however, to ensure the oil you use isn’t too heavily for your scalp, you can contact our hair care specialists who will expertly recommend a suitable oil for your hair type. Our in-salon product enriched with argan oil is the Schwarzkopf BC dark oil anti frizz effect with extra nourishing treatment at £19.95.
Regular haircuts
We would highly recommend you keep up to date with regular trims during winter months. Ideally you should aim to have your haircut every 6-8 weeks, this ensures your hair stays healthy and free from split ends.
Overdue a trim? Why not contact us at En Route, our team of specialists will be happy to help.
Hat hair is a thing of the past
On a cold wintery morning it is hard to resist the temptation of reaching for your big knitted bobble hat for extra warmth on your morning commute… but who wants to get to the office and unveil a flat, lifeless hairstyle? To combat this, you can easily fight your hat hair battle by introducing volumizing or salt spray into your haircare regime. Leaving you free to wear your winter hat even if it’s just for fashion purposes! The volumising products we recommend are the Volume Refresher by Schwartzkopf (dry shampoo) and the volume boost foam mousse.
